28:128.1 FIRST READING OF NEW POLICY 3412 - ACCOMMODATING STUDENTS WITH ADRENAL SUFFICIENCY The General Counsel, on behalf of the Director of Health Services, recommends that the Board of Directors review the draft proposal of new Policy 3412 and provide feedback before a second reading. Item Title FIRST READING OF NEW POLICY 3412 – ACCOMMODATING STUDENTS WITH ADRENAL SUFFICIENCY Background In 2025, the Legislature passed Substitute House Bill 1709 relating to the care of students with Adrenal Insufficiency. Codified as RCW 28A.210.358, the new language requires the District to adopt a policy documenting the provision of care and use of parent designated adults for students with Adrenal Insufficiency. Current Consideration The District presently serves more than a dozen students diagnosed with Adrenal Insufficiency. Similar to other endocrine disorders, the rates of students diagnosed with Adrenal Insufficiency are increasing post Covid.
